Graduation 2010

The Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy (LYA) Class of 2010 celebrated their education on June 16, 2010 at their graduation exercises. Before a crowd of family, friends, community leaders, staff and administrators the graduates reflected on how attending LYA has enhanced their education and changed their lives. The graduates used the five senses as a theme for their graduation.
“Of course to touch people’s lives, we must allow ourselves to be touched by others”, reflected Chaya Wolff. “LYA, my parents, my teachers and my friends have such a big role in my success as a human being, a student and a Jewish woman. I would like to thank them all now for touching my life.”
For Nadav Ben-Naim vision had many benefits because seeing is believing. “Seeing benefited me at LYA especially on my Israel trip”, remarked Ben-Naim. “I saw many famous sights that I learned about at LYA come to life.”
LYA President, Dr. Corrie Trattner and Dr. Mitch Kupperman, Educational Director at LYA distributed diplomas, gifts, and awards to the graduates. Chaya Wolff, was honored to be the recipient of the President’s Education Award presented each year by the President of the United States.
Each year, the graduating class of LYA presents a gift to the school that hangs in the hall as a memento of their education and time at LYA. The eighth grade presented an original painting of a dove flying above the setting sun. The dove grasps an olive branch in its beak representing the five senses. Mrs. Kornet, LYA Art Instructor, assisted the graduates in the creation of this gift.
“Thank you LYA for all the gifts you instilled in us”, remarked Aviva Muhlmann as she presented the gift. “By presenting this gift, we are honored to return the favor.
LYA congratulates its graduates and their families and wishes them all continued success in the future. LYA graduates will be moving on next year to: Beth Rivkah, Hebrew High School of New England and Longmeadow High School.
Dr. Kupperman addressed the graduates and spoke about dreams. “I suggest that you seek your dreams because a life without dreams is like a garden without flowers. Your LYA education will take you to your dreams.”
Graduates thanked their parents for ensuring them an excellent Jewish and secular education.
“I’m grateful for my parents for sending me to a school that encouraged me to reach my personal best where teachers instilled in me useful skills that I will be able to use for the rest of my life”, remarked Akiva Garfield.
