Rabbi David Edelman, Dean ob"m

Rabbi E.jpgRabbi Edelman was the leader of LYA since 1950. In addition to visiting people in the community, Rabbi Edelman visited the classroom sharing his life experiences with the students. He was truly an inspiration to us all. LYA is dedicated to continuing his mission since his passing in January 2015. May his memory be for a blessing.

Rabbi Noach Kosofsky, Head of School

Rabbi.jpgRabbi Kosofsky has been a member of the LYA team since 1984. Rabbi Kosofsky received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Rabbinical College of America and an M.A. in Religious Studies from United Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY.

Judi Epstein

judi.jpgJudi joined the LYA family in 2012. Judi Epstein holds BA in education from AIC and masters from Cambridge College. Before coming to LYA Judi worked as a teacher at Ludlow DYS facility, River Valley Academy and in Holyoke and Granby school systems. Judi’s professional development expertise includes: Inclusion Strategies, Oppositional Defiant Disorder: A Collaborative Problem Solving Approach, Special Education, Foundation for Reading Certification, Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol Instructor and Impact of NCLB on Special Education.

Stephanie Zolotor

Mrs. Z.jpgStephanie joined the LYA team in 2010. She received a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from UMass Amherst and Masters degree in Education from Smith College. Stephanie is the 2012 recipient of the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. She is also the 2012 recipient of the National Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Lilia Luzhanskiy , Early Childhood Director

Lilia.jpgLilia Luzhanskiy joined the LYA team in August 2010. She received her degree in Early Childhood from Open University, Tel Aviv, Israel and the Levinsky College of Education, Tel Aviv, Israel. Lilia Luzanskiy holds a degree of Associate in Arts from Springfield Technical Community College.

Lori has been a part of the LYA since 2006. She holds a Liberal Arts Degree with a focus on Early Childhood from Bay Path College and is a licensed Early Childhood Teacher through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Stephanie Kirk, Early Childhood Teacher

Stephanie K..jpgStephanie joined the LYA staff in the fall of 2013 after interning at LYA in the 2012-2013 school year. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Bay Path College.

Faigie Wolff, Early Childhood Teacher, Judaic

faigie.jpgFaigie has been a part of the LYA team since 1996. She received her Judaic teacher's certification from Bais Rivkah Teachers Seminary in New York, with an emphasis on Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Faigie is a co-director of Camp Gan Israel Longmeadow.

Yocheved Adelman, First Grade Judaic

Yocheved.jpgYocheved has been a part of the LYA team since 1988. She received her Judaic teacher's certification from Bais Rivkah Teachers Seminary in New York, with an emphasis on Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 1997, Yocheved was a recipient of the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. Yocheved lectures nationally on Jewish topics.

Rabbi Mendy Cohen, Second Grade Judaic, Middle School Judaic

Rabbi Cohen.jpgRabbi Cohen joined the LYA team in 2008. He received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitz. Rabbi Cohen received the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education in 2010.

Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky, Zekelman Standard Coordinator/Outreach

Rabbi Chaim.jpgRabbi C. Kosofsky has been a part of the LYA team since 1988. He received a B.A. from the Rabbinical College of America in New Jersey. He received his rabbinical ordination from United Lubavitcher Yeshiva, Brooklyn, NY. Rabbi C. Kosofsky is a 2001 recipient of the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. He received the 2007 Sidney Taylor Notable Book Award for Young Readers for his book Much, Much Better.

Rochel Leah Kosofsky, Kindergarten and Middle School Judaic

She received her Judaic teacher's certification from Bais Rivkah Teachers Seminary in New York, with an emphasis on Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She was a recipient of the 1997 and 2008 Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. Rochel Leah was a 2008 recipient of the National Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Rabbi Wolff is the 2002 recipient of the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. He is also the 2002 recipient of the National Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Wendy Lessard, Middle School Math

Wendy.jpgWendy joined the LYA team in 2013. She received a B. S. in Music Education from Edinboro University and a M.S. in Special Education-Moderate Needs from Westfield State University. She is certified in Middle School Math and Special Education, moderate needs.

Rosaleen Lewis, Middle School Language Arts & History, and School Media Specialist

Miss Lewis.jpgRosaleen joined the LYA team in 2011. She received her B.S. from Springfield College in History/Education and is pursuing her Masters degree in Library Science at Simmons College. Ms. Lewis also completed course work in Conflict Transformation.

Lane Futrell, Third Grade Secular

Lane.jpgLane Futrell joined the LYA staff in the summer of 2015, is a graduate of Elms College staff with teaching license is in Early Childhood: Students with and without Disabilities, and is currently enrolled in the MAT program at Elms College. She has experience working in the Holyoke and Chicopee Public Schools and is well versed in special education laws and implementation of student IEP's, Ms. Futrell also has licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapist.

 

Emily Snow, First Grade Secular

Emily.jpgEmily Snow joined the LYA staff in the summer of 2015. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Evangel University and has elementary teaching certificates in Missouri and Massachusetts. Her most recent experience was working with groups of third and fifth graders at William N. DeBerry Elementary School in Springfield, MA. to help develop mathematical skills. Ms Snow has experience with creating lesson plans, developing assessments, using Reader’s Workshop, and providing classroom management, working with students on different levels varying from “at risk” to “gifted” students.

Specials

Cindy Kornet, Art Instructor

cindy.jpgCindy has been a part of the LYA team since 2005. She received her B.S. in Human Development from University of Massachusetts in Amherst, as well as an M.Ed in Guidance and Psychological Services from Springfield College in Massachusetts. In addition to teaching at LYA, Cindy is busy running her own craft business. Cindy was awarded the Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Rebecca Hatch, Physical Education

Rebecca.jpgRebecca became a member of the LYA team in 2013. She graduated Springfield College with a BS degree and certification for Physical Education K-12, and a national certification for Athletic Training. She has 20 years of experience working with both Elementary and High School students integrating physical education into each grade’s curriculum, maximizing every student’s individual potential for a lifetime of health and fitness. Before coming to LYA Rebecca taught physical education in Lexington , MA and the Grammar School.
