The middle school hosted a "Boston Tea Party" for guests from grades K-5. Students who visited were served tea and biscuits and then enjoyed a variety of skits presented to them by the middle school students. Participants learned about the Tea Tax, Boston Tea Party and boycotts that led to the American Revolution. They were also introduced to Asser Levy, a Jewish man of the era. This interactive highly educational program was planned by the students with the help of Miss Lewis. Oh, did you hear? Even Patriot Paul Revere took time out of his busy schedule to attend!

Mazal Tov to LYA’s Aleph bet experts who performed flawlessly on Thursday, January 19 during their Mesibat Aleph Bet. They sang and danced through the Hebrew Alphabet. They looked adorable in their hand painted tie dyed shirts that kindergarten room mother, Chaya Sara Stiefel helped them create. A highlight was receiving their certificates of completion from LYA Dean, Rabbi Dovid Edelman. Smashing the piñata was fun too. A job well done.

The staff participated in an interactive hands on in-service day on Monday, January 16, 2012. Staff reviewed the seven habits and shared Leader in Me success stories. Role playing was fun and insightful, as staff acted out school scenarios in which they are implementing Leader in Me strategies. The highlight of the day was logging onto the Leader in Me website for educators, which is full of wonderful ideas that our staff began exploring together. LYA's leadership journey continues.

It was so nice for the students to be able to interact with Mr. Grinspoon and to be able to personally thank him for his support of Jewish education in Western Massachussetts. Mr. Grinspoon and Ms. Ballantine met with many classes. The eighth grade students were able to thank him for the wonderful Israel Trip of 2011 and the 6th and 7th grade students shared with Mr. Grinspoon their excitement for their Israel Trip 2013. It was fun meeting Judah Macabee and acting out the story of Chanukah in front of a live audience. Participants even took time out of their day to knit hats for Knots of Love.
